Unable to find my little notebook I had taken notes in for this, I will be blogging from memory. Sometimes not the best thing. Usually not the best thing. Likely to be all over the place, don't get motion sick! And due to the unforeseen fact that disposable cameras take TWO weeks to develop, I am stealing pics from Kristen's phone here and there. Actually, her phone took some dang good pics!!
Let me just preface this with: We had a really AWESOME time! No one got hurt, we all got along, for the most part all the time (a little stress here and there), no auto issues, and no one got sick and we got home in one piece!! Tis a miracle for this crew.
Day/night/following-morning #1: (yes, it all ran together)
Our hotel reservation was for Sunday, check-in at 3 PM until 11 AM on Friday. SOMEONE got the bright idea to leave about midnight on Saturday and take our leisurely time on our drive to Anaheim. That same SOMEONE then got the even brighter idea to leave around 9 PM on Saturday night instead. He tried to pass this off as the kid's idea, not realizing I would be interrogating said kids on this brilliant plan. Yeah, not their idea at all....imagine that. But, we were all anxious to get out of Dodge, so we went with it.
We did not think this through clearly, lol.
First of all, David and Kristen have no trouble whatsoever falling asleep in a moving vehicle. I usually don't, depending on the circumstance (leaving at 5 AM to 8 AM any given day, I have to load up on car sick meds and am usually groggy). Kyle NEVER sleeps when in the car/truck/whatever. Since David had a nap earlier when I was still at work, he took the first leg of our journey. The plan was for me to nap a bit. Nope, not going to happen.
He drove to St. George where we took a snack, potty, refill break. I then took the wheel as far as Vegas. Still had not napped. We rolled into Vegas about 3:30 AM. I pulled over to let him take the wheel to drive us down the Strip and initiate the kids on the wonders to behold. Suffice it to say, I had no idea I was leaving the freeway and entering a fairly undesireable area of Vegas....lol. "Behold!!! Kids, look - hookers!!!" hahaha Not even kidding. We did a VERY quick switching of drivers and got the heck out of there to head for the Strip.
"Where the heck are we?" "Where's the flipping Strip?" Okay, it's been 15 years since we'd been to Vegas, but this can't be that hard...we could SEE the casinos, just couldn't get to them. Oh my heck. Finally got over there. Kids were not that impressed, sheesh. Although Kristen nearly peed her pants when she saw the Luxor. "Cris Angel climbed up that thing!!! He's so HOTTT!!!" Oh my heck. Given the choice of where to have a VERY early breakfast: Luxor or Excalibur, it was the Luxor. 4:30 AM.
Do you know the type of people that are in restaurants in casinos at 4:30 AM???? (for the most part anyway) 99% of them were wasted!!! It was quite the education, lol. And oh my heck, if my daughter EVER left the house in a "dress" that was literally 1" to 2" below her crotch...well let's just say that would NOT be happening!! And I got a huge kick out of the wannabe "Guidos" wandering around. Yeah, Jersey Shore has invaded Vegas. I think we got our $70 breakfast worth of entertainment, if not food. How Kyle can eat a onion-laden hamburger at 4:30 in the morning is beyond me.....
Off we go on the road again!!! David driving, I'm supposed to be napping. Nope. I've been up for 24 hours now. Ugh. Around 8 AM we pulled into a rest stop to try and catch some zzzz's. Kristen has slept almost the whole journey. Brat. And before we had even left home was freaking out about stopping for naps. "Where? On the side of the highway??" "No, maybe at a park or a rest stop." "A REST STOP? NO WAY!! We'll become a MOVIE!! Didn't you watch that movie?" "Uh, no." "Mommmmm!!!!" HAHAHA
We're still alive and were not attacked, so it's all good.
David and Kristen napped. I MAY have dozed for 20 minutes, as did Kyle. Double ugh.
At this rate, we're going to get to Anaheim WAY before we can check into our hotel. Another fact dear hubby kept ignoring when discussing our early departure. But the rest of us had a plan. Oh yeah. But, I'm getting ahead of myself.
David had borrowed a friend's GPS. Not that we couldn't find our way to almost-Anaheim, lol. But we were sure we'd need it to find our way around once we got closer. Pretty cool. Going to have to get one of those if we ever go someplace else not involving the trailer, boat, and fishing poles. So I'm yapping out the "turn up here, stay on this road, etc" directions. We get on the right road and hmmmm, we circle around into a residential neighborhood. Now, I'm no expert, but this doesn't look right. Oh, and we just had to get a bouquet of roses that some dude was selling at a stoplight, too. Gah. Some dads are just suckers for whatever their teenage daughters squeal for. I digress. "You have reached your destination."
Oh really???? I somehow doubt if we go knocking on this family's door and tell them we have reservations for the next 5 nights at their house, it would fly. LOL!!!
We pull into a neighboring business parking lot and David and Kyle decide something's wrong. No kidding. Who programmed the address into the GPS? Kyle. What's the address again? 1850 South Harbor Blvd.
Ohhhhhh.....it DOES make a difference if you forget the "South" part....
Men are dorks.
Suffice it to say, we found the hotel...hours earlier than we could check in. Shocking!!!
Here comes the kiddo's and my plan for such an occasion: Let's go to the beach!!!
Beach Blanket Bingo coming up in pt. 2. (minus the blanket and the bingo, lol)

Me versus the nerd boys...
So, David wanders in yesterday to where I've planted my rear end in it's usual corner of the couch, my feet up and laptop on my, well, lap. Hey, I'd look nakey without it. Not because I AM nakey, but if I'ma sittin' the puter is in place!
Anyway, I digest. (I heard that somewhere the other day, made me lol)...ahem, I digress.
"Now I need you to...."
"NO, I am not looking up something for you, do it yourself!"...I swear the man has an allergic reaction if he comes within 3 ft. of a computer.
"No, this is a memory thing."
Uh, oh...yeah not my strong suit. Let me get a pen and piece of paper.
"Ok, now you HAVE to get up tomorrow to take Kristen to school." (hmm, apparently, some child or children have ratted me out that once he leaves for work I just roll over and go back to sleep....and she wakes Kyle up to take her, bless her little heart!)
"Okay..." - not letting on that I know that he knows I am lazzzzzzzzzzzzzy.
"Now, after you take her, go to Walmart and get that blue Nintendo 3DS and these games." And he rattles off several games she, and I highly suspect HE, wants. "Because it's being released tomorrow."
Now, somewhere in the deep dark recesses of what passes for my brain I seem to remember seeing "March 27" but that thought flits out just as quickly as it flits in.
Dutifully, I get up this morning and decided I'm pretty sure there's going to be a mass of, or even half a dozen nerd boys fighting for their chance to get what I'm sure are the 3 systems our rinky-dink Walmart probably received. So I throw my hair into what passes as a halfway respectable ponytail, splash on some makeup and am out the door at 7 AM, even before anyone else here is up. Drive up my slip-n-slide of a mud road this morning, holy cow! And go the 3 blocks to Wally World and find the lot looking a lot fuller than I would suspect is should at this time of the morning. Crap.
I wander back to electronics, shoes squeaking as I go. I hate that. lol
Get to the game display and see 2 of the 3 games on my list. Look around, no DS system in sight. Crap. So I squeak over to some gal stocking candy and ask her if they have any, and of course she has no idea as it's not her area but she'll find someone. Thank you much!
Five minutes later out comes this kid and he says: Those aren't going to be released til tomorrow.
Ummm...you sure? Husband says today, I thought maybe yesterday...if I remember my latest jaunt to Amazon correctly.
Well, let's see. We squeak (well I do) back over to a computer and he can't find anything on it. Seriously??
Nice kid that he was, and he was, he says he'll run in the back and see if he can find a manager or a box or something that will give him some more info. Five minutes later (again) here he comes with TWO systems, one blue, one black.
"Well you were right, they were released yesterday and these are the only 2 we have." Wouldn't surprise me if the store only GOT those 2, but who knows.
"I want the blue one and some games."
So yay! Success! They are hidden until girly gets home. I did remind David...umm, we have TWO kids...remember the boy hibernating in the man cave? But the plan is to see how this works out. If it's as good as the video makes it look, if the games are good, etc. Then we will for sure get another one. Probably two....he's as bad, if not worse, than they are for gaming.
Ran home and found our mama cat who had 4 kittens the other day, but only 2 have made it. Stupid cat goes out in the bushes and has her babies on a day/night that it rains/snows....we didn't know. Anyway, she has moved the 2 remaining ones up to the back door. Good girl. So Kyle and I found an old Barney bedspread and put it in a box and I put the babies in it and her and she snuggled right in. I hope she stays there.
I feel a nap coming on.....

Okay, let's give this a try...
Not sure at all what I am doing here. By that I mean how to create a blog. But since I am the "genius" I am...going to give it my best shot and see what happens here. Can't be that hard, can it? No comment.
I have visited, read, and become highly jealous of some fancy-schmancy, wonderfully designed blogs just recently. Sigh, maybe someday.
For now, we're going to be content on getting the basics down first. What say ye? Aye, that's what I thought.
Maybe this will be the home of "As Keddy Turns", since pcc seems to be sinking into oblivion. Going to miss that place, for sure. Good thing for Raggedy Friends! HA, some of you have NO idea what I am yakking about and more than likely think I have gone off the deep end. Completely bonkers.
Okay, enough for post #1 at this time. Gotta see how all this plays out before I start seriously blogging.
OH!!! And HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dad (David) and Brenda (sis-in-law)!! And CONGRATS to Brandon & Ashley on their wonderful wedding today! Thank you for letting me share in your joy this day.
